Dr. Lance Shingai Mambondiani is the Managing Director & CEO of BancABC Zimbabwe, a part of the Atlas Mara Group. Prior to this role, he was the CEO of Steward Bank, which is a subsidiary of Econet Wireless, Zimbabwe’s leading Telecoms Group. Dr. Mambondiani is a renowned Digital Banking thought leader and seasoned banker.

He has worked as an executive for several regional and international financial institutions over the years. Named in the African Report Magazine’s Top List of Who is Who in African Finance, he was recently awarded the 2021 Distinguished African Leadership Excellence Award by African Leadership Limited (UK), the 2021 Outstanding CEO of the Year by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network and the 2021 CEO of the year by Finnovex East Africa. Dr. Lance is a much sought-after speaker at international conferences as a global expert on Fintech, digitization and the transformation of banks. He was recently featured in the Global Edition of the CEO Magazine and the African Business Leadership Magazine (UK) for his contribution to Bank innovation across Africa.

Dr. Mambondiani holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLBS. Hons) from the University of Zimbabwe, an MSc in Development Finance (First Class) from the University of Manchester and completed his PhD in Banking and Finance in 2011 from the same University analyzing Bank Ownership and Profitability in the Zimbabwean Banking Sector. He is a recipient of the highly prestigious Chevening Scholarship by the British Council.
